How We Help

Spreading the Science of Krishna Consciousness

ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) is a Hindu religious organization that was founded in 1966 in New York City. It is based on the teachings of the ancient Hindu scriptures, the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam, and focuses on the worship of Lord Krishna. The organization has a worldwide presence and operates temples, cultural centers, and educational institutions.

The impact of ISKCON can be seen in various aspects:

Religious: It has popularized the practice of Bhakti Yoga, which emphasizes devotion to God, and has introduced Hinduism to many people around the world.

Cultural: ISKCON has helped to preserve and promote Hindu culture, especially through its many festivals and events.

Education: The organization runs schools and educational institutions that promote Hindu culture and values, as well as a broader education.

Community: ISKCON has helped to build a sense of community among its followers, providing a supportive environment for spiritual growth and development.

Charity: The organization runs various charitable initiatives, such as food for life programs that provide meals to those in need.

Overall, ISKCON has made a significant impact on religion, culture, education, community, and charity both in India and globally.

ISKCON operates through a hierarchical organizational structure and follows a centralized decision-making process.

Leadership: The organization is led by a Governing Body Commission (GBC), which is composed of senior members who are responsible for setting policy and making decisions on behalf of the society.

Temples and Centers: ISKCON operates temples and cultural centers globally, which serve as the primary place of worship and community gathering. Each center is typically managed by a local management team and overseen by regional leaders.

Festivals and Celebrations: ISKCON holds numerous festivals and celebrations throughout the year, which serve as a means of spreading its message and attracting new members.

Education and Training: The organization runs schools and provides training programs to its members, with the aim of promoting a deeper understanding of its teachings and practices.

Social and Charitable Work: ISKCON is involved in various social and charitable initiatives, including food distribution programs, health clinics, and other community service activities.

The overall functioning of ISKCON is guided by its core principles, including the promotion of Bhakti Yoga, the worship of Lord Krishna, and the practice of compassion and service to others.
